Wood Mill Pickup

Every weekend when we had our farm, we’d head on up to Wilkins Lumber Mill, to pick up a truckload of fresh wood shavings for our stalls. The mill is one of the few New England wood mills still running today with a remarkable historical past. The owner, Harold use to collect old Ford pick-up trucks and you’d spot them randomly parked just about anywhere at the mill. He just loved to talk Fords, and just about anything else. A very kind and gentle man he was, who’d always greet you with his smile. He’s since passed away at the ripe old age of ninety. He worked the mill up until the day before he passed. I’m certain he’s still looking down and watching over it today.
