I once had a farm where we raised sheep, goats, chickens and ducks. One of our ducks was named Tildie, and she was the boss around our barnyard. An Old English Runner duck who would follow me wherever I went on the farm. She came to us as an orphan egg, and our broody hens took care of her until she hatched out as though she were their own. I’m convinced she thought she was a chicken, with only one difference. We couldn’t keep her out of our inground pool!

~ Painting ‘En Plein Air’ on location, along the coast of Maine is especially rewarding to me. The smell and feel of the clean crisp salt air, and the appeal of the blue seas and colorful lupines in full bloom bring inspiration to this ‘old salt’.
