Bramasole

A couple of years ago we spent some weeks in Tuscany and in the hill town of Cortona.  Roaming around the streets,  my wife found the author, Frances Mayes villa  Bramasole.

At the time she didn’t know whose estate this was until she met the caretaker. She was simply drawn to it’s stunning gardens and the lovely architecture of the estate and spent hours shooting pictures primarily of the herb gardens.  When the caretaker explained who the famous owner of this beautiful place was, I just couldn’t get her away from it, as Under the Tuscan Sun was one of her favorite books.  The caretaker was kind enough to give her the grand tour and show her around the place – which made the day even more special for her.

I did a rough sketch and once we were back in the states, I painted this piece for her as a remembrance of a very happy day in Italy.

My wife is an avid gardener who loves to cook and even writes about her trials and tribulations in the kitchen and garden for that matter.    Seldom is there a day that goes by when I won’t find a bowl of freshly picked vegetables on our kitchen counter in season.

Holiday Art Shows

The reception for the Heart of Biddeford art show’s  December Art Walk will be the night of Friday, December 4  from 5pm to 7pm where a reception will  that night as well.

Our group Artwork and Photography Show will be held at the Weymouth Art Gallery at the Wells Public Library from December 5 through January.  The opening reception will take place Saturday December 5 at 11:am.

You won’t want to miss this enchanting array of paintings in a variety of styles and media. Artists from Wells and the surrounding community will exhibit their artwork at the Ethel M. Weymouth Art Gallery at the Wells Public library. The opening reception, which will include discussions with many of the artists, will take place on Saturday December 5 from 11:00 to 12:30. Refreshments will be served.
